The FORMOSAT-2 satellite captured this superb feature depicting a young whale and its mother in Baja California, Mexico. This geoglyph overlooks San Ignacio Lagoon, which was declared a sanctuary for grey whales by Mexico in 1979. Threatened with extinction, these whales give birth in the warm waters of Mexico's lagoons after a journey of 22,000 km from the Bering Sea—the longest migration of any mammal.
