FORMOSAT-2 offering

FORMOSAT-2: a custom product range
-

FORMOSAT-2 offers a range of complementary products and services. With its unique daily revisit capability, FORMOSAT-2:

  • delivers time series of data for change detection
  • guarantees acquisition of a useable image before any other optical satellite system
  • guarantees image acquisition even in areas where weather conditions are challenging
  • is able to acquire uniform or multisource (SPOT 5 + FORMOSAT-2) coverages

Custom-tasked products come in three forms: Time Series, Coverage or Scene. Archive data are also available.

We also offer specific contracts and service agreements:

  • reserved imaging capacity to guarantee tasking priority over your areas of interest
  • direct access to the satellite through a receiving station and telemetry subscription

Scene: Targeted Resolution
You want to cover one or more point targets, on a set date if necessary. We will do a feasibility study first before confirming your request and acquisition parameters, depending on the programming service you choose (standard or priority).

-
Time series: RELIABLE and MODULAR
-
You choose when and for how long you want the satellite to acquire imagery of your areas of interest. If necessary, you can even specify set dates for the satellite to make acquisition attempts. For each area, a series of images—with a footprint of 24 km x 24 km at nadir—is collected in satellite programming mode, mobilizing satellite capacity to cover the site.

Coverage services: Uniform Coverage
-

You want to acquire uniform coverage consisting of several images acquired at different dates close together. The satellite acquires imagery in segment mode, revisiting the area of interest daily to build up coverage quickly. We will do a feasibility study first before confirming your request and acquisition parameters.

In certain cases, combining SPOT 5 and FORMOSAT-2 data is the best solution. Spot Image’s expert teams will perform multi-satellite tasking and search for archive imagery if necessary. Contact our teams at formosat2@spotimage.fr to request a study for your project.

Reserved capacity: PRIORITY and ANTICIPATION
- To meet users’ requirements in terms of areas and periods of interest, the satellite operates in a tasking mode. This means imaging capacity and programming priorities are tightly managed.

To add to the inherent advantages of time series products, reserving satellite capacity guarantees availability and gives priority to your acquisitions, with specific imaging slots backed by a flexible agreement that can evolve to suit your needs.

You reserve imaging time on one or more orbits. Spot Image helps you to plan an acquisition schedule in line with satellite coverage. You can change the areas of interest to be imaged as your needs evolve.

Online service
-

Spot Image has developed a Web interface to make it easier to manage your allotted FORMOSAT-2 capacity and keep track of programming requests.
You can log on to access requests (status, request forms, etc.) and acquisitions (quicklooks, product requests, etc.), check data delivery status and view the global FORMOSAT-2 archive, all in real time.

Telemetry and receiving station: AUTONOMOUS and FAST
-

If your project calls for large amounts of data on an area of interest, before investing in direct reception infrastructure you might like to consider reserving satellite capacity as an intermediate solution.

We can guarantee you priority tasking to acquire imagery of a pre-defined area of interest by reserving satellite viewing time on each orbit. Our teams help you to define the best acquisition plan for your needs. You can modify satellite programming requests when your monitoring requirements take priority over coverages already tasked, and vice versa. This fixed-price service ensures optimal use of the satellite capacity you are allotted.

Planning your needs in this way makes sure satellite capacity is available, sets tasking priorities and gives you better visibility for your project.

A receiving antenna and licence, coupled with a terminal to capture and exploit image telemetry, allows you to receive images acquired within your receiving footprint—a radius of about 2,000 km—in real time. In most cases, an existing receiving antenna can be adapted to receive FORMOSAT-2.

You have complete freedom to manage satellite capacity, image production and archiving, backed by Spot Image’s experience and support. We train your operators, provide operational support for satellite tasking, and technical support and domain expertise for your application fields.
