Haiti Earthquake - SPOT 5 Image of Port-au-Prince on Google Earth

An earthquake of magnitude 7 on the Richter scale hit Haiti on January 12, centered approximately 15 kilometers west of Port-au-Prince.

More than 30 aftershocks greater than magnitude 4 followed. The damage is extensive and many public buildings in the capital are down.

This SPOT 5 image was acquired on January 14 for the International Charter on Space and Major Disasters.

The 2.5 meter image is available on Google Earth for quick viewing of changes on the ground.
