The SPOT 5 HRS instrument simultaneously acquires stereopair views of large areas (120 km x 600 km).
This great capacity for stereo acquisition – covering more than 125 000 km² per day on average – is combined with an industrial production line developed by Spot Image and the IGN (Institut Géographique National, France) to make a worldwide altimetry data base, Reference3D, which will cover more than 30 million km² over a 5 year period.
This data base offers outstanding accuracy without ground control points.
