the Direct Receiving Station network

INTERVIEW
Spot Image is developing close relations with its partner stations despite their geographical separation.

Christian Perget, Spot Image manager of the operational interface with Asian, North American and mobile receiving stations.
“When fires broke out in the Canberra region of Australia, we quickly programmed our satellites to image the affected area. The Australian receiving station began receiving SPOT imagery within 24 hours, enabling authorities to handle the disaster on the ground and make an initial estimation of damage”.

Receiving SPOT data directly

> Receive imagery in real time within your station’s receiving footprint
-
- Advances in technology have led to smaller, cheaper equipment, bringing the purchase of a receiving station within reach of private companies, research centres or government organizations.
- You need
-
-
  • to implement national or regional projects,
  • to build up your own archive for multidate analysis,
  • to monitor your areas of interest dynamically,
  • to promote distribution of SPOT data in a market or territory,
  • to develop image products tailored to your market,
  • to respond quickly in the event of a crisis.

- Direct access to SPOT telemetry.

To have direct access to SPOT telemetry, you need:
  • A SPOT data reception licence,
  • A receiving antenna,
  • An image telemetry operating system.
Spot Image offers you a custom solution, from the data reception licence which grants access to one or more SPOT satellites to delivery of the ELS (Easy Link to SPOT) complete receiving station package.

Spot Image also proposes solutions for receiving VEGETATION data via an L-band AVHRR-type station.
